Stiletto Knives

The stiletto can be best described as a short knife or even a dagger that comes with a long slender blade. The respective stiletto knives are of numerous designs that are mostly used as a stabbing weapon. It has a very narrow shape and an end that is quite pointed which allows for easy and deep penetration. Some of the stiletto knives are unsuitable for cutting in spite of their sharp edges. In fact some of the very first stiletto knives came with metal handles. There are some other types of Stiletto knives such as the round, square and diamond cross sections.
Stiletto is an Italian word that has been derived from the Latin stilus which means "a stake or a kind of pointed instrument." The stiletto that is also at times known as the misericorde (roughly translated as "mercy"), had gained popularity during the High Middle Ages, when it had been used as the secondary weapon of the knights. It had been used for finishing off both fallen and severely wounded opponents.
