Swordsswords is proud to bring to you a full complete handmade sword with the Masatsugu Ito Guard. This sword blade is hand crated and razor sharp with a very well balancing. The sword is a full tang construction with double pegged and can be disassembled. The blade of the sword is hand crated and constructed of carbon steel with a traditional hamon along the edge of the blade. The blade is also constructed from Carbon Steel with a visible kissake on the tip of the blade. The guard of the sword begins with a bronze blade collar (Habaki). Each side of the guard is secured by a bronze spacer (Seppa), this fitting is only found on hand crafted swords. This sword handle is secured by two wooden pins in the handle of the sword. Wrapped over the tang of the sword is a real ray skin held in place by two steel pins (Menuki) shaped like dragons. Over the ray skin is a black cotton wrap for the best in comfort and grip. The pommel of the sword is a simple blackened steel end cap. To make this a set, you can purchase the red, blue and this black with the three tier sword stand. It will give you maximum display.

A tsuba maker named Masatsugu Ito took piercing to the limit. He could simulate a piece of string attached to a kite for instance. He must have enjoyed the visual pun as his name, Ito, means string. Some of his work was extremely complex and very precise. He founded a school that bears his name. He used to drill a very tiny hole in the guard then he would coat a piece of steel wire with carburundum or ruby powder and pass it back and forth through the hole until it became elongated into a line.
