Blowguns

The blowguns (that are also commonly called as the blowpipe or the blow tube) can be best described as a simple weapon that comprises of a small tube that is used for firing light projectiles or sometimes even darts. It is also known, albeit incorrectly, as both a blowdart and the blowdart gun. The blowguns are used with the insertion of the dart inside of the pipe (that is also called as a blowgun) and hence the force that is created by one's breath is used for giving the projectile the momentum.
Amongst several cultures the blowguns have been quite popular. In fact people belonging to the South East Asia, the Amazon and also the Guiana regions of South America are most famous for using these weapons. The darts are mostly dipped inside of a curare poison that is used for paralyzing the target. Blowguns are used by them for hunting small game such as animals like monkeys. North American Cherokees are quite famous for making blowguns with river canes.
