A switchblade knife (that is also commonly known as the automatic knife, the switch, or in the British English flicks as the knife) is a kind of knife that comes with either a folding or a sliding blade that is contained inside the handle. The handle can be opened via a spring when the button present on the grip is pressed. Switchblade knives are mostly considered legal but are covered with by very specific laws. There have been numerous films regarding the usage of switchblade knives by the criminals. It had been very prominent during the fifties time period post the release of some films such as the movie titled Rebel Without a Cause and the famous High School Confidential that had both been released in the year 1955.
The switchblade knives have been around for quite some time now. The blade of the respective knife is almost the size and the shape of the average pocket knife.
