This is a Reproduction of a 16th century Rapier. The sword has a perfect balance and, though not authentic, the rubber handle with silver wire makes the sword very comfortable to use and gives it a better grip. The sword is perfect for collectors, enthusiasts and stage use. The Rapier was considered the Civilians sword and the Gentleman's Sword. The sword was made primarily as a thrusting weapon and therefore not effective on a battle field. The Rapier began its development during the 16th century in both Spain and Germany. In Spain the single handed sword was known as the "Espada Ropera" and in Germany it was the Schiavona. Although, it may seem like the Rapier was an innovation that sprang up overnight it was in fact a long process with many trials and error and as many factors leading to its creation and widespread use. The guard of the sword is intricately built in a swept hilt design with a double concentric ring guard and a square fore-guard. The quillons are a straight cross bar design with the knuckle bow attached just bellow it. The knuckle bow is attached with two additional guards and ends with a ball tip. The blade of the sword is 440 Stainless Steel in a mirror polished finish. The handle is black rubber wrap with silver wire, for excellent comfort and grip, with a stainless steel pommel. The edge of the sword is dulled but the point is very sharp. A ridge runs down the length of the blade with a short ricasso at the base of the sword. The scabbard of the sword is wooden with dull black finish. The drag and scabbard throat are both polished steel. So get your hands on these beautiful rapier before its too late.

Highly Reccomended
Andrew Jones (Laurel, DE) 12/5/2009 1:37 PM
My brother got this for me for Christmas. Since I ordered him something from the same site he ordered something for me, we both knew what we were getting. Because of that, He and I decided it would be best to inspect the swords before we wrapped them, because nothing is more disappointing than anticipating an awesome sword, and finding it to be broken when you unwrap it. I immediately fell in love with it. The blade was thin, and I wasn't used that because I generally buy longswords and broadswords. I love the balance of it, and I found it amusing to stand in front of a mirror and act like a snobby fencing enthusiast. It came packaged very well. The only thing that was wrong with it was that the guard got a little bent off center during transit, but other than that, I would highly recommend this sword. Oh, and the frog that goes on your belt with two rings on it that hold the straps. It didn't fit my scabbard, so unless you aren't planning on using it with this rapier, don't get it. ~Andrew

This sword is huge! I have to stretch my arm to get it out of the scabbard--it is humongous! I eventually bought it on ebay for about $60 and it was definitley worth it--everyone who sees it says its awesome and its become my favorite--A MUST BUY--everyone needs at least one rapier in their collection!

A Good little Rapier...
Komaru (Unknown) 7/9/2007 5:14 AM
Well, I've always wanted a rapier type sword. My main fascination with them comes from The Princess Bride and Raphael from the Soul Calibur series. So at a Highland Games event near my house the other day, I went ahead and picked this up. I bought it for $75, and I don't feel I've been ripped off. I much prefer to handle things directly before buying them. I bought the sword with the intent of sparring lightly with my brother. He and I have been making swords out of wood, metal, and plastic forever and fighting with them. This sword does not disappoint. Now this is not a claymore, nor is it a spring-steel blade. Thus we fight lightly, taking care not to damage each other or our weapons, but the sword stands up excellently against his pirate's cutlass. The blade holds up very well, and would be a great additioon to a performing arts armory, if your people know what they are doing. As for looks, it's great. Quite of a few of my friends have made positive comments about it.
